CM to launch Hawkers Day-press release 4 Nov 2013

KOTA KINABALU: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Hj Aman is expected to launch the State-level Hawkers and Petty Traders Day 2013 at the KPD Complex at Tanjung Lipat near here Saturday.

Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Seri Hj Hajiji Hj Noor announced this after chairing a meeting of the State Hawkers and Petty Traders Advisory Council here Monday. He is also chairman of the Council.

He said the three-day affair which starts on Friday is the government's recognition of the role played by hawkers and petty traders towards the nation's economy.

The Chief Minister will present awards to various winners, he stated, adding that four hawkers and petty traders will be selected to represent Sabah at the national level event at the end of this month.

The public are invited to visit the three-day exhibition. There will be stalls put up by members of the hawkers and petty traders associations from all over the State. There will also be live entertainment.

The main organiser is the federal Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs whose Sabah office serves as the Secretariat of the Council. Also involved is another agency under the Ministry - the Malaysia Co-Operative Societies Commission and various hawkers and petty traders associations from throughout Sabah.

Present at the meeting were the Ministry's Sabah director, Severinus Tukah; the Commission's Sabah director, Umar Sarim Hj Saidin; and President of the United Sabah Hawkers and Petty Traders Associations, Hj Noortaip Hj Suhaili.
